That one devoted to truth may see.
An autonomous body of the Ministry of Education, the Council supports research in philosophy — from the classical darśanas to contemporary thought — through fellowships, seminars, lectures, translations and its journals.
Fellowships for individual scholars, and grants that let universities host seminars, lectures and study circles in philosophy.

Since 1977
The Indian Council of Philosophical Research was set up by the Ministry of Education in 1977, on the recommendation of a committee that saw the need for a body like the ICSSR and ICHR devoted to philosophy alone. It began work in 1981 under its founder Chairman, Professor D.P. Chattopadhyaya.
From Darshan Bhawan in New Delhi and its Academic Centre in Lucknow, the Council funds fellowships and projects, helps universities hold seminars and lectures, publishes books and the Journal of Indian Council of Philosophical Research, and keeps a specialised library for philosophy.
The Council encourages research in these areas. Fellowship proposals name one of them when they apply.
